Brand-new manual scoreboard for our football oval

We are pleased to advise that our new football oval manual scoreboard is now fully operational for all our user groups! In response to the increasing interest in our AFL oval, we have made the decision to install this feature to complement our larger digital scoreboard. Positioned conveniently next to the centre team interchange and siren operations, it is designed to streamline the scoring process. Crafted with marine plywood and flip-top style numbers, it ensures both ease of use and durability. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of our Property Services team, we have successfully launched this initiative to enhance the experience for all our oval users. Ready to experience it firsthand? Head over to our contact us page to secure the AFL oval for your next game and see the scoreboard in action!

New coffee machine for our cafe

Our members and high ball stadium spectators and officials love their coffee! So, we have traded in our long standing unit for a very popular new model and brand that delivers fabulous coffee even in the busiest of situations. The San Remo Amalfi Deluxe is the new model to San Remo’s traditional coffee machine range. A mix of technology, design and passion, Sanremo coffee machines are the product of an Italian family meeting the needs of coffee enthusiasts all over the world for over 50 years. Our new machine has all of the latest technology including high boiler capacity, built in volumetric pump, individual heat exchangers, copper piping and more. All of this technology comes together to produce what’s important, the best testing coffee lattes, cappuccinos and hot chocolates our centre users demand.

New resistance bands and storage racks

We have recently installed new resistance bands and storage racks in both the group fitness room and gym. Resistance (strength) bands are great for increased resistance, speed & power development and for stretching the upper or lower body muscles and joints. Great for assisted pull ups and attaching to bars and benches for specialised training, the strength (resistance) of the bands is determined by their individual  colour and width with yellow being the easiest and blue being the hardest. Power bands allow your body to easily move into multiple resistance and stretching angles and allow motion to increase gradually or quickly. The bands are also portable allowing users to position themselves in any space or use any single piece of equipment in the gym or the upstairs functional training space.

Gym extension and new equipment

Our Sports Centre Health Club is going from strength to strength with a recent expansion of our overall floor space and range of gym equipment. We have completed an extension into an adjoining room which has now added over 60 sqm to the overall workout area.
This has been in response to student, staff and member requests for an increase in advanced high performance and strength training equipment and we have now also added another 8 major pieces of advanced strength training pin-loaded, and plate loaded units, providing for even more varied programming and specialised training. The range of new equipment includes Life Fitness & Calgym smith machines, dual adjustable pulley, 45 degree leg press, plate loaded bench press, chrome plated dumbbell rack and more.

Brand new fans installed in group fitness studio

RMIT has recently upgraded the group fitness studio with the installation of two new high-velocity Mercator wall fans. These fans are designed to provide efficient cooling during warmer months and intense fitness sessions. The industrial-strength fans quickly circulate air, ensuring a refreshing breeze throughout the room, giving our instructors an additional resource when needed most. With this enhancement, members, students, and staff can anticipate more comfortable workout experiences as the RMIT Sports Centre plans to expand its wellness and conditioning class offerings. Group fitness classes are a great way to meet new friends, get in shape as a collective and have fun in the process. Visit the links on the RMIT Sports Centre website to view the group fitness timetable, class conditions and descriptions of the classes.
